This website contains data for more than 500 public four-year colleges and universities in the U.S. Although the data are presented for primarily public institutions, some data - notably faculty awards and memberships - also cover private universities and colleges.

The data in this website are included because of their usefulness in answering the most frequently asked questions about peer institutions. These data have been used by the University System of Maryland for comparison purposes. Most of the data are available from public sources, such as NCES, although the data on faculty awards and memberships are collected by the University System of Maryland Office from various sources.

The files are in either Microsoft Excel (Excel 2002) or Microsoft Access (Access 2002) format. The data will be updated periodically.
