Coppin State University is a historically black, four-year university offering 23 undergraduate majors and 11 graduate-degree programs in the liberal arts and sciences, business, education, and nursing. The second university in the country to implement a K-16 model, Coppin manages Rosemont Elementary/Middle School and operates Coppin Academy, a high school located on the campus. Coppin has earned local, national, and international recognition for its information technology efforts, including being the first historically black university to receive the prestigious EDUCAUSE Award for Excellence in Networking. Coppin has a unique mission, primarily focusing on the problems, needs, and aspirations of Baltimore City residents and those residing in the immediate metropolitan area.
